Your privacy matters

NexType is a typing test that works fully without an account — your tests, stats and settings live on your device. Signing in unlocks cloud sync, leaderboards and real-time races. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Without an account, everything stays local in your browser. When you sign in, we store:

• Account basics — your name, email and avatar from Google or GitHub (via OAuth). We never see your password.
• Username — the public handle you choose, used for race invites.
• Typing data — completed test results (WPM, accuracy, mode), per-key accuracy tallies, and daily activity for streaks.
• Preferences — theme, font, sound and gameplay settings you sync.

• Show your progress dashboard, streaks and weak-key heatmap.
• Rank you on the global leaderboard (only your best WPM + display name).
• Let friends invite you to races by username, and run those races live.
• Sync your settings so they follow you across devices.

Data is stored in a hosted Turso (libSQL) database and transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Auth.js using a secure, http-only session cookie. Real-time race events are relayed through Pusher and are ephemeral (not stored).

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your preferences are kept in your browser's local storage.

• Use NexType fully anonymously — never sign in.
• Clear local stats anytime from the dashboard.
• Sign out to stop cloud sync.
• Request deletion of your account and cloud data by contacting us — see Contact.

NexType is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
